NAPTA and the CFTE are co-hosting a webinar after election day that will go over the national results of transit ballot measures this November. NAPTA’s new website has a full rundown of measures on the ballot hits November here. There are a bunch of interesting and important measures but three that we are particularly watching and working on are:
- Spencer and Sylvania townships, Ohio – These towns are voting whether or not to remove themselves from the regional transit authority in Toledo’s metro region, If the measures pass riders in these communities stranded and without options .
- Pierce County/Tacoma, WA – this measure will restore previous 35% cuts to Pierce Transit’s bus service. If it doesn’t pass there will be additional and devastating cuts to the transit system leaving riders cut off and the region disconnected.
- Richland County, SC – if passed this measure will prevent cuts to bus service and allow for system growth to meeting rising demand for service in Columbia, SC.
